It's been a while since I shared a post full to the brim with pictures of my poor self posing awkwardly, a cringe not far from my lips. Yes, dear readers, tis' that time again - despite an internal monologue which warns variously of narcissism/self-importance/sheer embarrassment - today my focus is on my summer wardrobe. Did I have you fooled with the endless posts on the garden? Did you think it would be all podded peas and horse muck from here on in? Fear not, vintage lovers, for I have merely moved a few miles across Sussex, I haven't had a lobotomy (yet). I am still me, where ever I lay my hat, and vintage clothes are woven into my ether. I am who I am, because I need several wardrobes to house my lovely hobby (or because I'm a hoarder, perhaps). I wear vintage clothes when I'm feeling down, and I wear them when I'm floating up into a deliciously good mood. I wear colour and print to lift me up, and I wear them to display my positivity. I am who I am, and who I am wears vintage. Even for pulling up weeds from the earth, even when planting veg. I didn't say it was a practical hobby.
The dungarees have played a big part, of course.
As has colour. Sometimes I look at people who wear just black or muted tones and I envy their sophistication. Then I peek into my wardrobe and the rainbow so bright inside, and I know I could never be any other way. My old and drab office attire used to really drag me down (as did the job, come to mention it).
I celebrated a birthday and was gifted these lovely vintage pieces from my lovely husband and a dear friend.
I was a bridesmaid for a wonderful friend, and enjoyed slipping into an era I haven't explored for a while. I used to live in 1950's garb, but I rarely reach for a petticoat these days (might be a bit TOO far for the garden). It was nice to play around for a day. Also, how ace are those shoes?
But I always end up back here, in a dreamy 1970's haze of floaty skirts and cheesecloth. Never change, even if your circumstance wind their way along an unexpected path.
